Depression Cooking with Clara

I have fallen in love once again with some Youtube episodes. I first learned of it earlier this evening while watching the news. It's called, "Great Depression Cooking with Clara". Upon hearing of this, it sparked my interest. SO...I googled her. She is an amazing woman. At 93 years old..she still cooks, and shares her memories from her childhood...hoping no one will ever have to go through what she did. In today's world...we can somehow relate to Clara, who grew up during the Great Depression, living on nothing but simplicity to survive. It's amazing to see her tell of her stories while cooking delicious yet simple foods. As what they say about Clara is.."the magic of her is that she can turn lemons into lemonade and potatos into just about anything. And although she had a childhood most of us cannot imagine, she was able to make the best of it and turn those trials into lessons we can all learn from." Take a look at her YouTube episodes!! :) Oh..and to all you Facebookers, she even has account too!!!

Pointless.

So, this morning I have absolutely no point at writing this posting. I guess to take up some time before I start scanning away paper's galore here at work.

~I am not digging this layout I currently have right now. Although I love Delightful Dots, I do believe I chose a least favorite layout of mine. It reminds me of a baby blanket. Lastnight when I was on my blogging kick, I changed it to this, and ended up being too tired to fool with it any longer, so I kept it. I'll change it tonight.

~This past weekend, I was amongst the sickly. My hubby was in bed all day with a stomach bug, or something, so I was with it constantly. My poor Lovey. And then my sister, Angel....she has a 102 temperature with a throat that feels like razorblades. Ugh. Stinks. I hope they both get to feeling better, and no one else gets sick.

~I have been hearing this new song on the radio, and it is so sweet. It is called, "It Won't Be Like This For Long" by Darius Rucker. I think about our good friends, Jimmy and Michelle who just had a baby girl. Definitely a tear jerker song.

~And about lastnight's final episode of the Bachelor...? I must be a loser, because I never have been able to get into that show. Nope..no jumping on that bandwagon. There's only a few things I actually watch on Tv...and even those aren't on a regular basis. I did fall in love with that one show, along with the hubs.."The Secret Life of an American Teenager". And with that, lastnight we watched the past 2 episodes! Yeah, I can't even keep up with the favs. Luckily we can record it.

~I am so excited about the weather being warm this weekend!! 70's and sunny. Perfect in my eyes. My hubby is wanting a punching bag to go in our garage, so we're gonna go look for one on Saturday. :)

Well, that's it for me right now. I have to get back to work. Hope everyone has a great day!

Not Me Monday!

It wasn't me who almost passed out at the gym lastweek. It wasn't me who pushed myself way too hard like an idiot, in return to feel dizzy and weak.

It wasn't me who blew $20 bucks on a slot machine only to get frustrated in almost winning $3000-!!!!! Had to try it atleast once!!

It wasn't me who got home and didn't even unpack our weekend bags. You should see our room right now.

It wasn't me who spent an hr and a half reading blogs lastnight instead of getting to bed early after a busy weekend!! :)

Weekend Recap!

No pictures. I thought about snagging a few of my dad's on Facebook, but then I thought he'd probably post them on his blog, so oh well. We had the best time this weekend. For all who read this, and don't know..I had been counting down the days till my Lovey and I took our tiny roadtrip to Louisville. All of the family...well, not all but several...all met at my sister's house, and hung out for a bit. It was fun, and I enjoyed every bit of it. Along with the festivities, we celebrated my dad's and nephew, Chase's birthday! The cake was fabulous along with icecream and the food was delicious.
That night, after everyone left, Mike, Angela, Bob and myself all headed out for dinner. A favorite of mine and Mike's is Hooters. They have fabulous wings, and a sandwish I love. After that, I had the idea of heading to a Boat Casino in Indiana...we had a great time. I became Slot Queen, but luckily knew when to stop. The atmosphere gave me a headache with smoky air, and crowded people. As soon as we made it home, a shower was suggested for all of us.
Sunday was a loungy day. Bob watched the Cardinal's game while Angel and I stayed in bed looking at facebook and websites! Ahhh, sisterly love. :) Mike fed his WOW addiction and hung out with Bob. We made it out of there by 3:30 KY time, 2:30 our time...which was good because it was 5:00 and we were home! Hopefully we will be seeing them again soon!! :)

So what....

Lastnight was pretty amusing. Mike and I don't fight much...we pick on each other that will last 5 minutes, and then we're back to our ol' selves chasing one another through the house, tickling each other...and basically just doing all those childish-adult things.
I had gotton home around 6:00 from taking a grocery-run to Krogers. I already had a headache and had a million and one things going through my head of what I wanted to get accomplished. From making a nice dinner, to proceeding to attempt to make a surprise Peach Cobbler for my Lovey, to even make myself feel like Wonderwoman by getting all the laundry done, and the house cleaned by 8:00 to relax and read the last few pages of my book.
What went from one comment taken the wrong way to the car being a mess...to me having a woman meltdown, I realized why in the world do I have to accomplish all in one night? What's the big deal if the house doesn't get cleaned tonight? What happens if the laundry doesn't all get done? Nothing. Mike made me realize that lastnight. That so what if what I want doesn't get accomplished all in one evening...the world still keeps moving. And Mike still loves me!!
Needless to say, we had a nice dinner...Cheeseburgers on the Foreman, and a delicious Peach Cobbler that was so easy to make for dessert! :)

Not Me Monday!!

Time for some guilt-free, theraputic "Not Me Monday"! It's been awhile since I have done this, so this should be good. :)

It wasn't me who read 15 chapters of my "Twilight" book in 2 days! It wasn't me who lounged on the couch soaking up Edward's words instead of dusting and vacuuming our ever-so-clean house. :) It also wasn't me who "made fun" of my sister for falling in love with a vampire in a book. Yes, yes, yes...It isn't me who is currently eating my words! hehe.

It wasn't me who went to Target and fell in love with the new scent that Suave has come out with, only to come home and throw away my 90% empty bottle of Salon Shampoo and conditioner. It wasn't me who had a husband gather my shampoo and conditioner bottles out of the bathroom trashcan to say that we don't work to waste perfectly good shampoo. OOPSY...

It wasn't me who wanted to continue to stay in bed with my ever-so-peaceful sleeping hubby this morning.

It wasn't me who was challenged at melting white chocolate for Mike's Valentine's treats. It wasn't me who was impatient at melting it in the microwave to then proceeding to melting it on the stove which ended up burning. It wasn't me who had to throw out the first mix, and proceed to melting it in the oven, which ended up turning out perfect for the popcorn. :) It wasn't Mike who ate so much of it, he ended up feeling yuck at the end of the evening.

And finally, it wasn't me who got aggravated at a person at work when they decided to come to work sneezing, coughing, and complaining about how bad they felt. If you're sick, stay home!!!
